To complete the biology series of revision cards, I have created a set of 'stamps' that contain all vital information on each AQA Biology B1 topic. The QR codes link to the my-GCSEscience.com video series on youtube, whereas the exam quesiton and answer QR codes link to a selection of exam questions which I downloaded from exampro. To download a set of 'stamps' click here.
As with the other sets of revision cards, I am planning to make these available to my students prior to teaching a topic. This way students can get an overview before coming to lessons and complete exam questions either in class or at home. Each card is kept brief in terms of information and focuses on facts, descriptions and explanations that often are asked for in exam questions. Some topics, photosynthesis for example, ask for a lot of data anyalysis and the quesitons I have included focus on this skill. All questions and answers were put together using exampro. To download a pdf version of all 10 cards click here. I have used these cards for chemistry and aim to create a set for all three sciences. Students used these at home to help them revise for their exams. At times we also used them in class so that each student could work on a different topic at their own pace. To download the set of 10 cards click here. Hand out a motorway 3-6 mark exam question. Students use the keywords, command word guidance and connectives to draft their exam response. Using the second roadsign (roundabout, etc.) students assess their response and edit their first draft. For a set of questions and answers click here. If you wish to adapt the cards for your subject, click here to download a blank template of each sign in pdf. The roadsigns can easily be adapted to suit any other subject as shown in this example which was created by @SLT_Kat. To download a copy of her version click here. As I was walking down a main road, I suddenly thought that the template could easily be adapted to any task (using SOLO or grades to differentiate). The red circles represent the maximum level the task can achieve. As students work their way around the roundabout, the level of difficulty increases. Once students have completed the task I would encourage students to first of all RAG themselves before discussing the answers. Finally, targets will be set at the end of the process. To round off the QWC series for Biology, I created a set of 'passports'- I will print mine back to back and fold each page in half (if I get my head around it, I might readjust each page and put all of them together into a passport booklet). Students are encouraged to use the command word descriptor, connectives and keywords to draft their answer. Using the marking points on page 2 they then edit and redraft their first response. To download the finished set for B3 (2 questions per topic) click here. For an empty template, click here. The template can easily be adapted to other subjects, such as RS as shown in this image. To download a copy of @SLT_Kat 's RS version click here. Hand out a 3-6 mark question 'airmail envelope'. Students use the keywords, command word guidance and connectives to draft their first response. Using the 'airmail letter' students then assess their first attempt and edit it accordingly.
